United’s grounds for celebration

It will probably come as no surprise to supporters of Hastings United but Simon Rudkins has been named Groundsman of the Year by the Ryman League.

He also came second nationally for all clubs at levels 3 and 4 in the Non-League pyramid.

Hastings chairman Dave Walters said: “I’m sure everyone at the club recognises Simon’s dedication, commitment and professionalism and this award is richly deserved.”

A presentation will be made by the FA at the Arsenal pre-season friendly on Tuesday July 19.
