The scheduled game away to Hythe Town tonight (Tuesday) has been called-off after the waterlogged playing surface at Reachfields, as expected, failed a 10am inspection.

United have now had seven matches postponed since Christmas, all of them away from home, and still have between two and five games in hand on every other club in the division.

They have midweek fixtures scheduled for every week apart from one until the end of March as they seek to eat into the backlog and will be hoping to avoid any further postponements over the coming weeks.

The U’s moved up to eighth in the table on the back of their 4-2 victory away to Walton & Hersham at the weekend. They trail Faversham Town - who hold the final play-off spot of fifth - by four points having played four fewer fixtures.

Elsewhere tonight, Little Common will hope to finally contest their first Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One encounter of 2016.

The Commoners are due to entertain Langney Wanderers in a fixture postponed for the latest time 10 days ago. Kick-off at Little Common Recreation Ground is scheduled for 7.30pm.

Common’s only action since the turn of the year has come in the form of three cup ties and they haven’t now played in any competition for three weeks.
