U’s seek to pull away from danger

Hastings United are gearing up for another important game in their battle against relegation.

The U’s will entertain FA Trophy semi-finalists Wealdstone tonight (Tuesday) eager to pull away from the Ryman Football League Premier Division drop zone.

United held a nine-point cushion over the bottom four only recently, but back-to-back defeats against Bury Town and Carshalton Athletic, coupled with successive wins for rivals Leatherhead, have cut that gap to just three.

Only leaders Billericay Town have lost fewer matches than 12th-placed Wealdstone. No less than 14 draws have stalled Wealdstone’s progress, although the London side does still have a chance of making the play-offs.

Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm. Elsewhere tonight, Sussex County League Division Two side Westfield will contest a friendly away to Sussex Division One team Ringmer.
