Video: Bexhill hoping tide has turned

The Pirates won 2-1 at home to Storrington in Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One on Saturday to end a nine-match run without a victory.

Bexhill manager Munday said: “Beating the league leaders at home - where we’ve not really done anything this year - will change the way the season was going.

“We’re out of all the cups so our main concentration is the league and we’ve got to get a run going. We had some good runs last year, but we’ve had a losing run this year and it has been a really hard thing to break.

“It’s been my toughest moments in football, but the last two or three games we’ve been turning the corner slowly and we’ve not really got our just rewards. We got it on Saturday and I’m hoping that’s the turning point for us.”

Munday will be hoping for more of the same when Bexhill make the long journey to bottom club Midhurst & Easebourne tomorrow (Saturday).

“We’ve got to conduct ourselves in exactly the same way as we did against the team that’s top of the table,” Munday added.

Jack Aston and Nathan Tudor are back from holiday, and George Aston has completed his ban. Munday hopes to have Jamie Morgan available for the first time this season.

Munday has been busy this week seeking to strengthen his squad.

The Pirates have issued a seven-day approach for their former striker Paul Rogers, who scored two goals for Langney Wanderers against Little Common on Tuesday night.

Munday said: “I know he’s got good links with the club, he loves the lads down there. We’ve had some backing and people can help us out getting the right type of player.”

Bexhill seem set to sign Polish goalkeeper Mateusz Szafranski from St Francis Rangers.

The club is awaiting international clearance for a Portuguese player at present known only as Victor, although Eastbourne Town have faced the same wait all season. The delay is because the player signed a professional contract in his homeland.
