Only nine league matches took place across the league’s seven divisions, as well as eight ties in Hastings & District FA cup competitions, and there were a number of shock results.

St Leonards Social moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier Division after defeating Peche Hill Select 4-1 on their home turf.

Social were 2-0 up at half time through Colton Alleyne-Davis and Dom Cruttenden before doubling that advantage with a goal from Brett Patton and then a second from Cruttenden. Select eventually pulled one back in the 80th minute through Asher Grindle, but it wasn’t enough to lift them off the bottom or deny Social their eighth league win out of eight.

Also at Tilekiln, an entertaining match between Rock-a-Nore and Battle Baptists ended in a 3-3 draw. It was nip and tuck all afternoon, with the Rocks generally taking up the front running only for Baptists to fight back.

Scott Ramsay’s two first half goals helped the Rocks to a 3-2 advantage at the break, with Sean Baldwin adding to the total. Baptists were kept in the game by Zac Fawcett and Mark Dowling, and Alex Woodhams fired in a third goal 20 minutes from time to give them a welcome point.

Ore Athletic continue to weave their way up the table, a 3-1 win away to Iden giving them their fourth league victory on the bounce.

Darren Warne’s 90th minute goal was just a consolation for Iden on an afternoon which went totally Athletic’s way. Grant Cornelius grabbed a hat-trick for the visitors, taking his tally to eight in the last five games.
