Westfield back in training

Although still in the first half of June, Westfield Football Club is about to begin pre-season training.

The Sussex County League Division Two outfit is easing back into it by running ballwork sessions on Saturday at Claremont School from 10.15am. Westfield will also train on Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm at the same venue.

There have been a couple of changes, meanwhile, to the club’s pre-season friendly schedule. The unavailability of Claremont School as a venue due to a clash with cricket means the match against Ferring on Saturday July 9 will now be away. And the game against Lordswood the following weekend has been cancelled.

New opposition is now being sought for that date, but the number of warm-up matches remains at seven with an extra on Tuesday July 19 away to Sussex Division One side Crowborough Athletic.

Westfield’s revised pre-season friendlies 2011-12: Saturday July 9 Ferring (a) 2pm and 4pm double header, Tuesday July 12 Rusthall (at Claremont School) 7.30pm, Tuesday July 19 Crowborough Athletic (a) 7.15pm, Saturday July 23 Hastings United XI (h) 3pm, Tuesday July 26 East Grinstead Town (a) 7.30pm, Saturday July 30 Westfield (at Bisley FC) double header 2pm and 4pm, Saturday August 6 Eastbourne Borough XI (h) 3pm.
