On the back of a fantastic start to the season, Westfield lost at Rotherfield.

They were without their front three of George King, George Landais and Dan Tewkesbury, so in stepped Lee Paine, Connor Benton-Powell and Will White.

Rotherfield took the lead, despite being down to 10 men due to a sinbin to their captain.

A free-kick from the right was mis-hit and fell kindly to a Rotherfield forward to slide into the net, leaving Gav Bourne with no chance.

For Westfield, Jack Stapley missed a chance with a diving header that bounced harmlessly over.

A moment of madness from Roberto Martellini saw himsent off.

Already heated after a clash witha Rotherfield forward, he let his mouth get the better of him and received a straight red for foul and abusive language.

Rotherfield soon found themselves 2-0 up, although in the eyes of the Westies it should never have counted.

A ball from the left was scooped over Bradley Kipps with a forward’s arm and smashed into the top

corner.

The Westies still pushed hard, hitting the post and bar in quick succession through Connor Benton and Lee Paine.
