Westies reveal triple swoop

Westfield have announced the signings of three players from rival Sussex County Football League Division Two clubs.

Gordon Cuddington and Joe White have arrived from Bexhill United, while Lee Wood has returned to The Parish Field from Little Common.

White nailed down the left-back spot at Bexhill last season - his first at senior level - although he has a lengthy ban coming up, while Cuddington has been an all-action presence in the heart of Bexhill’s midfield for several years now.

Wood, who has also played for Sidley United, was a dependable figure at the heart of Westfield’s defence in past campaigns before moving to Common last summer only to endure an injury-plagued 2010/11 programme.

With the exception of Martin Brain, who is off to study in America, all of the squad which finished 10th last term have put pen to paper for the 2011/12 season.

That includes leading scorer David Pugh, who has committed to Westfield ahead of other Sussex County League clubs, although the 32-goal marksman will be trying his luck with Hastings United.
