Wins for Common, Bexhill & Westfield

Little Common have gone top of Sussex County Football League Division Two.

Having finished third-bottom last season, Common took their tally for the next term to 13 points from six games with a 3-0 victory at home to bottom club Storrington yesterday (Saturday).

Jamie Crone gave Common the perfect start with an early goal, and the same player struck twice in the closing 10 minutes to complete his hat-trick and make it six for the season.

Bexhill United made it 10 points from four games in the same division after grinding out a 1-0 success away to a still winless Loxwood side.

It wasn’t a vintage performance from a Bexhill team missing several players, but Casey Ham’s fifth goal of the campaign shortly before half time was enough to earn three precious points.

Having drawn four of their first five matches, Westfield picked up their first victory of 2012/13 after overcoming Mile Oak by the same scoreline at The Parish Field.

Westfield goalkeeper Matt Cruttwell produced a very good save during an even and goalless first half, but the hosts got on top in the second period and David Pugh bagged the all-important goal after good work by Gordon Cuddington.
