Having completed the signing of former Eastbourne Borough youngster Ethan Strevett at the end of last week, Rye United picked up their first Division One victory at the third attempt with a 3-2 win away to Worthing United.

Andy Atkin put Rye ahead on the half-hour and deservedly doubled their advantage just before the break. Dan Turner pulled one back for Worthing in the first minute of the second period only for Evan Archibald to restore Rye’s two-goal cushion a couple of minutes later.

The hosts then had a shot cleared off the line and closed to within one again through Sacha M’Baye in the 82nd minute, but Rye held on for a win which they were good value for.

Little Common moved up to second in Division Two courtesy of a very good 2-0 success away to Broadbridge Heath. A goal in either half from Chris Cumming-Bart gave Common their third victory in eight days.

Bexhill United opened their account in the same division with a 2-0 win away to Seaford Town. Two goals in the space of three minutes early in the second half did the damage with Peter Cooper opening the scoring and Danny Leach adding the second.

Westfield have picked up just one point from a possible nine in Division Two following a 2-1 loss at home to Steyning Town. Adam Burton gave Steyning a 70th minute lead and although Gordon Cuddington equalised, Kristian Harding won it for the visitors.
