Giants to host top US side

The Giants have been chosen from teams across Europe to be included in the Team USA Select Basketball organisation’s European tour.

Two exhibition matches will take place in the area. Sussex League champions Brighton Cougars will face USA Select (White) in the opener before the Giants face USA Select (Blue) on Friday September 20.

The match will take place at Summerfields Leisure Centre in Hastings as Bexhill Leisure Centre - the Giants’ usual home - will not be able to accommodate enough spectators.

The Giants require some additional sponsorship, however, and promotion to help cover the cost of staging the event, which is a major coup for the town as some of the best basketball talent from the United States will be on our doorstep.

Team USA Select coaches will conduct a coaching session for local youngsters, offering the opportunity of receiving quality training from experienced coaches.

USA Select Basketball was formed by top USA coach Sean Kilmartin to help American basketball players find professional opportunities internationally. The origins of USA Select Basketball trace back to the 1980s when a number of players played professionally in Europe.
