Disappointment for Evans

Golf professional Ben Evans failed to make it through to the European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage.

The Staplecross-based player finished tied 57th in the second stage event at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club in Spain which finished yesterday (Saturday), nine shots behind the last of the 19 qualifiers.

Evans began with a three-over-par round of 74 on Wednesday containing just a solitary birdie and a second round 73 featuring three birdies left him five-over-par at the halfway stage.

The result caps a tough season for Evans, who finished a lowly 140th on the European Challenge Tour Rankings - his worst placing in five years on the circuit.
