The Staplecross-based talent came fourth at the 2013 Open International Du Haut Poitou in France with a six-under-par total of 213 for the three rounds.

Evans was the only player in the 105-man field not to drop a shot during the opening round last Friday and his three-under 68, which featured three birdies in the last six holes, left him tied fourth.

He stayed in the same position after a 72 on Saturday, although this round was more up and down as it contained five birdies and four bogeys. In fact, Evans made just two pars in his first eight holes.

Evans began Sunday’s final round with a bogey at the second, but birdies at the fifth, 10th and 12th took him within one of the lead. A bogey at the 15th effectively ended his chances of winning, although he birdied the 17th for the third round running to close with a 71.

The 26-year-old is up to seventh on the season-long order of merit with 12,999.43 points, just over 2,250 behind the all-important top five going into the last couple of events.

Evans is due to line-up in the European Tour Qualifying School first stage event at Golf d’Hardelot in France next week.
