Gullivers hosts Boxing Day derby

GULLIVERS hosts what should be a keenly-contested local derby between the Uniteds of Sidley and Rye on Boxing Day (Tuesday).

Both sides will be looking for all three points in a bid to pull away from the lower reaches of the Sussex Division One table. Kick-off is 11am.

The clash triggers a run of three home games for the Blues as the Rye tussle is followed by visits from Shoreham on December 30 and Crowborough Athletic on January 2.

Joint manager Andy Laskey said: "If we can get the points from all these games then we will shoot up the table."

First choice goalkeeper Peter Newstead and defender Graham Morris are both expected to return from injury against Rye, but Jimmy Watson and Steve Morris are unavailable.

The Division Three local derby between Little Common and Bexhill United was postponed last weekend due to a waterlogged Recreation Ground pitch.

Neither team is in action now until a week on Saturday when the Commoners are due to entertain Hurstpierpoint and Bexhill host Uckfield Town.
