Ellen Crombie triumphed in the under-15 girls’ event and Maya Ramnarine won the under-13 girls’ race in the third league meeting of the season at Lancing Manor.

Crombie crossed the line in a time of 15:51, comfortably ahead of Bodyworks runner Poppy Mercer (16:20) and Almi Nerurkar (Phoenix - 16:39). It was an excellent result for Crombie, who came second in the previous league meeting at Bexhill Down last month, and the first time Nerurkar had ever been beaten in Sussex.

Ramnarine, also a runner-up at Bexhill Down, was a first time winner in 12:03 - five seconds ahead of Milly Dickinson (Phoenix).

Of the other Hastings AC competitors on another windy afternoon, Isaac Elam matched his second place finish at Bexhill in the under-13 boys’ race and George Pool did likewise in the under-15 boys’ event.

James Mountford and Rhys Boorman ran well in the senior men’s race, and Jeff Pyrah produced a solid showing following injury.

There is one more meeting to go in the league, at Hickstead in the new year, and Hastings AC has a good chance of team gold in the under-15 girls’ and under-13 boys’ events.
