H&B will entertain Vigo tomorrow (Saturday) having won all of their five Kent One matches at William Parker so far, scoring 180 points and conceding just 13.

“It would be nice wouldn’t if we could go through the season unbeaten at home, but if you can’t take that form away, you’re not going to win the league,” said H&B head coach Kevin Smith.

H&B go into the new year occupying second place with 10 wins out of 12 having lost only to leaders Park House and third-placed Cranbrook. They are three positions and 16 points better off than tomorrow’s opponents, but Smith is expecting a tougher test than the 53-11 victory in September’s reverse fixture.

“They’ve had some good results over the latter half of the season and I suspect they’re going to be up for it,” Smith continued. “They’re good up-front - we’re going to have to match them there - and the 10’s quite willing to work for them.

“Any Kent side - even if they’re down the bottom - can turn you over on the day, but if we’re really going to be challenging for promotion, we’ve got to put away teams like Vigo and we’ve got to do it clinically.”

Rye Rugby Club, meanwhile, will return to Sussex One action tomorrow after the festive break with a tough trip to third-placed Eastbourne. Both games will kick-off at 2.15pm.
