Golf star Ben Evans achieved a lofty finish on the European Tour for the second successive event.
The Staplecross-based professional followed up his tied eighth result at the M2M Russian Open by coming tied 12th in the KLM Open this weekend.
Evans completed the 72-hole tournament at Kennemer G&CC in Holland in a 13-under-par total of 267 after carding four sub-par rounds.
The 28-year-old began with a two-under 68 last Thursday which contained four birdies and two bogeys. He followed that with a three-under 67 on Friday featuring five birdies, including four in five holes from the 12th, and two bogeys.
Evans surged up the leaderboard with a blistering front nine of 31 on Saturday which contained five birdies, including four in a row from the sixth. Two more birdies and two bogeys on the back nine added up to a 65.
His final round yesterday (Sunday) was very solid. Three birdies and no dropped shots had world number 366 Evans round in 67, completing a consistent week.
He wrote on social media site Twitter afterwards: “Very happy with a solid week at the @KLMOpen. What a great event they have put on. Also nice to go home for a day, before Milan on Tuesday.”
Evans, of Rye and Sedlescombe golf clubs, moves up to 127th on the season-long Race to Dubai standings ahead of this weekend’s Italian Open. The top 110 at the end of the season will earn full European Tour ‘cards’ for next year.
