Before lockdown, the club regularly used this part of the seafront for club training sessions and for other social runs.

Many of the club members are passionate about looking after their local environment to preserve the places in which they love to run.

Supported by club coach Danny Garbett, runners have been incorporating this section of the beach into their lockdown training runs, collecting litter and other debris to take home and dispose of.

Survey sheets are completed and logged to monitor what is being cleared.

Griffiths spoke about the motivation behind this idea.

She said: “As a club we use the coastline for many of our runs so it’s lovely to be part of this campaign and give something back to our incredible surroundings in Eastbourne”.

As a result of her work on this project she was been appointed environmental ambassador for Run Wednesdays.

If you are interested in protecting our environment and running as part of your exercise regime and would like to support the Adopt a Beach campaign, check out the Run Wednesdays Facebook and Instagram pages.
