The Coronavirus pandemic has closed stadiums across the country and sports governing bodies have suspended all activity, in line with government regulations.

At present, it is known when speedway will resume but the HG Aerospace Eagles want to know the feelings of its fans. A survey has been launched for all registered members of the Eastbourne Speedway website.

It asks a number of questions including when people would feel confident and comfortable to attend, what payment system they would like to see and what could be done within the stadium to boost people’s confidence. The club announced its attention to launch the survey on April 25 but has held off until now so that people have more knowledge about how the outbreak is developing and being controlled.

Club director, Les Fineing, said: “It is important for Eastbourne Speedway to understand supporters’ views and ensure we take all opinions into account when the time comes to re-open stadia and recommence the sport that we love.”

Mr Fineing said many steps needed to happen before racing re-started. Some were at national level, others more local, along with the green light from the speedway authorities.

“We will only recommence when we feel the vast majority of our riders, management, staff, sponsors and advertisers, season ticket holders and supporters feel able to return in sufficient numbers to make our business safe to attend, first and foremost, and financially viable as a secondary consideration,” he said.
