England petanque star attending competitions again as lockdown eases

England petanque star Ella Slade has been continuing to train and compete in the sport during the lockdown time of Covid 19 by entering Virtual competitions against players of all ages from different countries.

Competitions would be arranged and the competitors like Slade would have to live stream for all other competitors to watch. The required disciplines which carried points depending on the success could see you move on further into the competition.

Now that sport is slowly starting properly again the 13-year-old from St Leonards has been attending invitational competitions (this is so numbers don’t exceed the number of players that can play set out by the government) with rules put in place for social distancing.

Slade has now formed a bubble with the other female England juniors to maintain safety and to commence preparations towards the European championships next year in Spain where it will be the first year the sport has made it that male and females can not play in the same team together.

Due to time lost this year for training, training will be hard as Slade and the other female juniors will be expected to train, practice and play petanque all through the winter months to get as much time together as team and as much playing time as possible to build a team bond between themselves on and off the Piste.

Next up for Slade is Titles weekend in Gravesend where she will compete against some of the best players in the country.

None of what Ella has managed to achieve or hoping to achieve would not happen without the support and sponsorship of Bartletts Seat.
