Rob Cross is part of the new Premier League season starting next week

The elite 10-man competition usually takes place on a weekly basis at venues around the UK, Ireland, Holland and Germany. But with crowds still not permitted to attend due to the coronavirus pandemic, the format is very different this year.

All 17 nights will be played at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, with the first five of them on consecutive days next week, starting on Easter Monday.

Night six to Judgement Night - after which the bottom two players in the league table will be eliminated - will follow from April 19-22. The remaining seven nights, plus the Play-Offs for the leading four men in the standings, will take place in May.

Cross will open his campaign against Grand Slam of Darts winner Jose de Sousa before facing world champion Gerwyn Price on Tuesday.

A tough start will continue with matches against world number two Michael van Gerwyn on Wednesday, Masters champion Jonny Clayton on Thursday and 2020 world champion Peter Wright on Friday.

The world number five from St Leonards will then take on Gary Anderson, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Nathan Aspinall and Glen Durrant in the second week of matches.

This will be Cross' fourth consecutive appearance in the Premier League The 30-year-old was a semi-finalist in 2018 and runner-up in 2019, but was eliminated on Judgement Night last year.

Cross - the 2018 World Champion - goes into the Premier League after winning five matches across the four Players Championship events which made up Super Series 2 recently.

The 2019 World Matchplay and European Championship winner reached the last 32 in two of those events.
