The 2018 European Masters champion was just a frame from victory, yet Figueiredo staged a tremendous turnaround to claim the final four frames aided by runs of 116, 57 and 137.

St Leonards-based Mark Davis also fell at the first hurdle, losing 6-4 to Robbie Williams on Wednesday.

After taking the opening frame with a break of 98, 43rd-ranked Davis trailed 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 only to level things up on each occasion, helped by a run of 90 in frame six.
