More than 1,200 runners finished the three events which made up the Poppy Races on Saturday November 7, including 773 in the half marathon.

The races took place on Bexhill seafront, starting and finishing by the De La Warr Pavilion, in wet and windy conditions. They were organised by Raising Money for Good Causes, which nominated various charities to benefit from the event.

Its chairman, Lee Holdaway, said: “We hope to continue to put on a true running race for the athletes and also grow the event to raise valuable monies for worthy causes.

“We hope to be able to increase the capacity of the race as many missed out on racing, and we do hope Rother District Council can assist us next year and really make this a key part of the town’s event calendar.”

Next year’s event is scheduled for Saturday November 12, 2016 and organisers are keen to hear from potential sponsors. The format and information about when entries open can be found at www.poppyhalf.co.uk
