Rain washes out Sidley hopes

ROCK bottom Sidley were robbed of a precious win against Roffey on Saturday, as the Sussex Division Two match had to be abandoned due to rain.

Sidley started well at the crease with captain Scott Woodroffe (46) and Jonathan Haffenden (38) top-scoring in a total of 225-9.

Roffey were unable to even get up a canter in reply as the heavens opened to leave Sidley stranded at the foot of the league.

It was a similar story for Bexhill in their match against East Grinstead.

Neil Turk hit an undefeated 99 as East Grinstead totalled 242-7 and in reply, Bexhill only managed 8-0 before rain brought the afternoon's proceedings to a halt.
