Record entry for Beckley 10K

There was a record entry for the Beckley 10K on Sunday morning.

A bumper 227 runners completed the challenging run along the lanes around the village. The Fun Run (15 finishers) and Children’s Race (42 finishers) also attracted more numbers than ever before.

The main event was won by Jeff Pyrah, of Rye Runners, in a time of 34:45 with James Mountford second in 35:52 and Jamie Larkin, of Hastings AC, third in 37:25.

Julie Humphries, of Alton Runners, was the leading lady in 44:18. The men’s team prize was won by Hastings AC and the ladies’ equivalent by Rye Runners.

The first Husband and wife were Jeff and Sam Pyrah, while the first Beckley lady was Nyree Thomson and the first Beckley man was Jim Haydon. The Nice Work-organised event was supporting Beckley Village Centre.

Will Goodsell was first in the Fun Run in 14:56 and Jessica Morton was the leading lady in 16:41. Kyle Parslow won the Children’s Race in 4:47 with Alexandra Prickett (Ashford AC) second in 5:03.
