After winning the triple crown - CARA Senior Fours Championship, Pompey Grand and Bideford Bowl - for the first time in the club’s history during the summer, Bexhill’s senior men competed in the Fours Head.

The crew of Kieran Cahill, Matt Hellier, Doug Holdaway and Mark Mitchell came 98th out of 400 odd crews at one of the largest fours races in the country. They also finished 10th out of 31 in their category even though they mistakenly stopped short of the finish line.

Bexhill took the novice men, junior ladies and a senior/novice crew, meanwhile, to London Docklands on Sunday.

The novice men, who included Lee Dunstall, Will Knapp, Adam Baker and cox Doug Holdaway, won their category with some fine tactical rowing.

The junior ladies’ crew of Laura Quinn, Abbie Little and Charlie Cooper coxed by Ashley Cahill came second in the j17 coxed and coxless quads. Being the only coxed quad, they performed particularly well.

The senior/novice crew of Will Knapp, Josh Green, Doug Holdaway and Ashley Cahill with Laura Quinn coxing finished second in their intermediate category.

Bexhill Rowing Club will be running a learn to row course in the new year, starting the first Sunday of February. Email [email protected] for more information.
