And sitting proudly in this display was a shirt from H&B RFC.

The event is the brainchild of RFU president Jeff Blackett. Its aim is to remind everyone of the contribution made by grassroots clubs as the lifeblood of the game.

The exhibition featured in the weekend television broadcasts of England men beating Ireland and the Red Roses’ las- gasp win over France.

There are plans to make some sort of permanent display of the shirts in the future.

Hastings and Bexhill’s competitive season has been seriously hit by the restrictions of Covid 19.

The mini and junior sections hope to resume their Sunday morning programmes soon and the senior players will return to their midweek activities when the current lockdown is lifted.
