No place like home for H&B

Hastings & Bexhill Rugby Club has the perfect opportunity to make a flying start to 2011.

All of H&B’s four matches this month will take place at their William Parker Sports College base, starting with the visit from East Grinstead II on Saturday, kick-off 2.15pm.

Chairman David Hirst said: “We’re hoping to hit the ground running. Playing at home we should have that slight advantage and there’s games there that we need to go into with a very positive attitude.”

H&B are the third of four teams vying for a runners-up finish - and with it a promotion play-off against the equivalent finishers from Kent One - behind runaway leaders Uckfield.

Fourth-placed H&B are a point back of second-placed Pulborough and third-placed Holbrook, and one ahead of fifth-placed Burgess Hill, with all four clubs having won seven of their 10 games so far.

Grinstead are in eighth place with four wins from their 10 fixtures to date and were beaten 43-10 in the reverse fixture back on September 25.
