Picture special - Uckfield RFC volunteers' Christmas lunch project

Gordon Buckland, proud chairman of Uckfield Rugby Club, has thanked Heidi Greenwood and a team of volunteers for helping Uckfield Rugby Club help those in need this Christmas. Heidi approached the club and asked if they would help her provide a cooked meal for anyone in need in Uckfield on Christmas Day.

Buckland said: "We agreed and Heidi mobilised a team, and the incredible people and businesses of Uckfield could not have been more generous with donations from The Rotary Club, Uckfield Rugby Club, South Brockwells, Bridgers and Isfield farm shops, Carvills, Waitrose, Josefina, Liam Miller, Adam Palmer, John Miles, Yannick Vuillemey, Jacky and Martin Ensom and the Henderson Family.

"This enabled Heidi and her team of Christmas Eve volunteers Olivia Greenwood, Joe Emery, Ceri Cliff, Andrew Heeley, Claire Ford, Paul Fletcher & Vicki Searle and her Christmas Day chefs Susan, David and Alexander Newell, provide 57 perfect two-course meals, accompanied with Xmas pudding, Yule log, mince pies and a goody bag with a card, gift, chocolates, sweets and a pot plant. This was delivered by her delivery elves who spread Christmas joy with door-to-door deliveries, Max, Jaz and girls, Becki & Andy Heeley, Vicky Lewes and her little elf Harry, Michele Poulter, Brian and Jane Muddle, Katie Weekes, Gary Greenwood, Joe Emery and the Buckland family."

"It was a massive team effort but so very very worthwhile."
