Saxons surge up to second

South Saxons Hockey Club moved up to second place courtesy of a victory double at the weekend.

Saxons crushed Crowborough 11-0 at Horntye Park Sports Complex on Saturday before winning 7-3 away to Middleton & Bognor on Sunday.

The results put them ahead of Lewes III on goal difference with four games remaining in the race to secure a promotion play-off place in South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One.

Man of the match Jamie Busbridge scored five in the first game, Dave Draper netted a hat-trick, and there was one each for Dan Burnett, Paddy Cornish and Alex Coombs.

Draper bagged another treble in the second fixture, while man of the match Burnett, Busbridge, Cornish and first team debutant Matt Morris picked up one apiece.
