Sidley cry foul over cup defeat

SIDLEY United were knocked out of the RUR Charity Cup by a controversial last minute goal against Sussex County Division One rivals Burgess Hill.

Goalkeeper Danny Poole appeared to be fouled in a goalmouth tussle and as the ball spilled from his hands Brown sneaked in to score.

Sidley nearly equalised with the last move of the third round tie but Dave Ward s header missed the target.

Before that Chris Copley wasted two headers, and strikers Dave Carey and Peter Baker had decent chances to score, but it proved to be one of those nights.

Baker was also denied a blatant foul that saw a defender take him out when he was last man.

Joint manager Peter Heritage said: "I m very pleased with how we played and I think we have started to get our team spirit back. Everyone was fighting for each other and I think we re starting to play to our potential."
