Sidley in seventh heaven

SIDLEY United hit the target seven times to blow visiting Southwick apart on Tuesday night.

It was clear from the start that it wasn t going to be much of a contest for the hosts with top scorer Peter Baker hungry to increase his season s tally.

Ten minutes in he received a long ball from deep in his own half and charged into the box but instead of going for glory he squared for an unmarked Dave Ward to slot in from six yards.

Before anyone could settle Southwick s goalkeeper Richard Whittington was picking the ball out of the net for a second time.

Almost straight from the restart a defensive mistake let in Ward again who sprinted into the box to make it 2-0.

Russell Eldridge added a third in the 35th minute with a sweet drive off the outside of his boot.

Baker was finally rewarded for his aggressive running when he smashed home the fourth in a crowded box.

After the restart Ward hit a controlled volley off a good cross to complete his hat-trick.

Player-manager Peter Heritage made it six after the veteran striker was given far too much space and Baker wrapped up the 7-0 rout with a well placed shot.
