Sidley stroll in RUR Cup

SIDLEY United maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 win over Redhill in the RUR Charity Cup at Gullivers on Monday.

After a first half that was best forgotten Sidley took less than two minutes to open the scoring after the restart through a Matthew Critchely own goal.

Although Redhill posed next to no threat Sidley still needed the cushion of a second goal but it did not arrive until a minute from the end of normal time when Lee Wood got up highest to power home a bullet header from a Mark Freeman corner.

Sidley visit Steyning Town in the second round.

The Blues return to league action on Saturday August 31 with a trip to Sidlesham, followed by the short trek to Ringmer on Wednesday.
