In the championship singles, Rob Morphett (Spartan BC) beat Steve Jeapes (White Rock BC) 21-19 after 23 ends. Jeapes led 8-6 after eight ends only for Morphett to score 10 unanswered shots over the next five.

Jeapes fought back to tie the match at 19-19 after 22 ends before Morphett scored a two to clinch the title. Considering Jeapes had not played outdoor bowls for two seasons, he did well to play such a competitive game in the final.

The triples winners were James Henty (Spartan BC), Brian Henty and John Pannett (Victoria Drive BC), who had a comfortable 21-9 victory over AJ Morphett, Ray Hood and Rob Morphett (Spartan BC) after 16 ends.

The consolation pairs was won by John Barnes (Tilbury BC) and Keith Barber (Aylesbury BC), who beat Stuart Burrell and Richard Huckstepp (Northiam BC) 21-14.

David Fletcher, representing the Birchwood Group - who were the main sponsors of this year’s tournament - presented the trophies to the winners.

The event was very well organised again by the tournament committee, which was ably led by tournament organiser Bill Whittington. This was very much appreciated by most of the 250 competitors.
