Spot-on Rimmer clinches win

BEXHILL United notched up a 1-0 win at home to Upper Beeding to boost their quest for a top half finish in Sussex Division Three.

The strong breeze at the Polegrove ruined any chance of a football spectacle but United claimed the points thanks to a gift of a penalty in the 12th minute.

The Upper Beeding keeper was penalised for a needless off the ball kick at Dan Antink, allowing Sam Rimmer to dispatch the resulting spot kick.

United were never in any real danger of relinquishing the lead and manager Len Watkins was satisfied at the outcome. He said: "It was comfortable really. It was not a classic but the three points are great."

Bexhill are without a game on Saturday March 22.
