The annual 10k race, which the boyes have organised since 2009, will start at 10am on Battle High Street and continue over a fun but challenging course before finishing on the historic Abbey Green.

Runners receive great support from spectators who line the route and on the Abbey Green, the Bonfire Boyes provide a barbecue and refreshments for those waiting for the runners to return.

The event has grown to become one of the most popular 10k runs in the area with the course suitable for both fun and serious runners.

Prior to the 10k is the junior race for those aged 11-15 which takes place at 9.30am within the High Street.

BBB spokesman Matt Southam said: “The 10k is another great event in Battle’s calendar and there will be plenty of runners taking part to raise money for their own chosen charity, so while BBB organise the event as a fundraiser, lots of other charities benefit from it too.

“Even if you are not the running type, I would encourage spectators to make their way to the High Street to cheer on the runners and soak up the atmosphere.”

A road closure will operate in the High Street from 9.20am-9.40am and again from 9.50am-10.15am with stop and go boards from 10.30am-11.15am. Powdermill Lane will be closed from 10am-10.45am.

Entry to the 10k is still open and can be made online at www.bbb10k.co.uk or on the day at the registration desk on the Abbey Green from 8.30am. All runners who entered online will be required to collect their number from the registration desk on the day and are asked to arrive in good time.

The course record, incidentally, is currently held by Daniel Anderson, of Hastings Athletic Club. The 2008 Hastings 100th Anniversary Marathon runner-up completed the 2011 race in a time of 32:50.
