Strong field for Bexhill 5K race

Some of the top middle distance runners in the county will be in Bexhill this evening (Wednesday).

Around 300 competitors are expected for the second leg of Bexhill Runners’ 2011 Seafront Run Series which is doubling up as a Sussex Grand Prix 5K race.

It will take place on the seafront, starting from the war memorial outside the sailing club, over a fast and flat 2.5km out and back course, which the runners will complete twice.

The race will begin at 7pm and registration will open from 5.30pm on the seafront. Day entries cost £10 and all finishers will receive a medal.

Over the years the children’s races have become a great success with youngsters competing over 500m, 1km and 2km. Children all enter on the day for £3, and receive a free race t-shirt and medal.

This is the 10th year the series has been organised, raising the profile of running and fitness in the town.

It kicked-off with another 5K on May 25, and will continue with the Big 10K on September 25 and Poppy Half Marathon on November 13.
