Super Saxons back on the goal trail

South Saxons returned to form with a crushing 9-4 win at home to Penguin on Saturday.

Although held to a disappointing 3-3 draw at Southwick seven days previously, Saxons were three-up in 15 minutes through Paddy Cornish, Dan Burnett and Jamie Busbridge.

Penguin, who went into the South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One game above Saxons, pulled one back only for Busbridge to make it 4-1 at half time.

The visitors again got within two early in the second half, but Saxons then hit five without reply through Dave Draper (2), Busbridge (2) and Cornish before Penguin nabbed a couple late on.

A full report will appear in Friday’s Hastings Observer.
