New skipper Jamie Busbridge sent orders to start the game quickly against a travelling side that was running late and started with 10 men.

It wasn’t long before Saxons took the lead through a well-worked goal finished off by James Bunday. Saxons were soon two-up when Paddy Cornish drilled the ball home from the goalkeeper’s initial save.

The skipper joined in the action with two goals in quick succession and a fifth was scored before half time by the ever-energetic Alex Coombs.

The half time chat was to carry on the same as before, but to cut out the bickering between a few players. The players responded well in deteriorating weather which caused a minor sandstorm and then a large downpour.

This didn’t dampen any spirits for the home side, though, as they were soon back on the goal hunt through another double from the skipper, the first of which was a deflected shot into the top corner from a fantastic diagonal ball by Coombs, who set up all four of Busbridge’s goals.

Saxons completed the scoring with a neat run and what some would describe as a slightly topped finish from man of the match Cornish.
