Superb swim from Benjamin
BENJAMIN McIvor came agonisingly close to booking a place in the final of the 100m freestyle at the National Youth Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield.
The teenager from Bexhill swam a superb personal best time of 55.06 in the semi-finals to put him in 11th position - just missing out on the final 10 by 0.24 of a second. He was placed as first reserve and now has a British ranking of 11th for this event. Earlier in the competition he had touched home in 55.42.
Benjamin, who swims for St Bede's, Hailsham, was also placed 26th in the 200m freestyle after clocking a pb of 2.02.88.
