Top three for shooter Scott

Steve Scott came joint third in the latest Great Britain Selection Shoot on Saturday.

The Battle marksman had scores of 48, 46 and 46/50 in the first three rounds of the double trap event at the Beverley Clay Target Centre in Yorkshire. He then shot 48/50 in the six-man final for a total of 188/200.

That was matched by Steven Walton, with whom Scott won gold in the men’s double trap pairs event at last year’s Commonwealth Games. Peter Wilson was the winner on 195 with Richard Faulds five back in second.

The result continued a consistent season so far for Scott. His most recent outing prior to the weekend saw him come second in the Ian Coley Masters at the Southern Counties Shooting Ground in Dorset on June 5.

He had an identical finish in another Great Britain Selection Shoot at the same venue the previous day with 190/200 having won the UK Double Trap Championship at Nuthampstead Shooting Ground on May 8 with 181.

Scott, who is 28th in the world rankings, has also taken part in two ISSF World Cup events since the turn of the year. He was 18th in Beijing on April 24 with 135/150 and ninth in Sydney on March 27 with 138/150.
