Tufnell night a huge success

THE fourth 1066 Sporting Club Dinner proved a huge success as former cricketer and "King of the Jungle" Phil Tufnell delighted guests at the Cinque Ports Hotel, Hastings.

The Mike Robertson Associates-sponsored evening was a sell-out and a number of fans had to be turned away. "Phil was marvellous and proved to be our most popular guest to date," said Dale Seymour of organisers Style Promotions.

Tufnell, the ex-England cricketer and winner of reality television show "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here" is now a popular speaker on the after-dinner circuit. He regaled his audience with stories from his cricket career as well as some inside information on what really went on in that Australian jungle!

Also delighted with the turnout were some of the young emerging sporting stars in 1066 country who will benefit via the 1066 Sporting Club from money raised on the evening.

Next sporting star on the agenda is former Bath, England and British Lions rugby player Gareth Chilcott, who will be joined by comedian Adger Brown. "We've already had a number of bookings for this," said Seymour. "Chilcott is recognised as one of the best - and funniest - speakers on the circuit, so I think we've got another sell-out on our hands."
