Uninspired Sidley crash at home

SIDLEY United's inconsistent form continued on Tuesday night when they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Hassocks.

An uninspired performance from the Blues saw them create few real chances and allowed Hassocks to look a lot better than they actually were.

There seemed to be little imagination going forward and the final ball let them down far too often.

The home side had an early effort disallowed for offside but came close soon after when Dave Ward blazed a snap-shot over from close range.

Hassocks' best chance of the half saw four players touch the ball in rapid succession before Anthony Hibbert hit a tame shot straight at Danny Poole.

Ten minutes into the second half Hassocks scored the only goal of the game. A free kick on the edge of the box caught Sidley napping and Luke Flomo hit a rebound through a scattered wall and past the unsighted Poole.

Paul Balch went close to equalising before Kevin Rose was prevented from scoring by a non-existent foul on the keeper.
