The last Polari On Sea of the current run funded by Arts Council England will be held on Wednesday July 27 at the Printworks in Claremont.
Host Paul Burston said: “It’s been a fantastic six months. We’ve welcomed so many great performers and enjoyed the support of so many of our regulars, along with new audience members who’ve only discovered us. We’re going out with a bang and an all-star lineup featuring Matthew Todd, VG Lee, Paul Bailey and Maureen Duffy. This promises to be our busiest night yet, so book in advance or arrive early to avoid disappointment!”
Matthew Todd was editor of Attitude magazine from 2008-16 during which he interviewed everyone from Madonna to Daniel Radcliffe and was responsible for Prince William’s first ever gay press cover shoot.
His first book, ‘Straight Jacket: How to be Gay and Happy’ on Bantam Press has been described as a book every gay person should read.
Meanwhile regular contributer and Hastings resident VG Lee is the critically-acclaimed author of four novels and a collection of short stories. She has just completed her fifth novel, Mr Oliver’s Object of Desire.
Multi award-wining author Paul Bailey’s many books include At The Jerusalem, Peter Smart’s Confessions, and The Prince’s Boy.
A firm favourite at Polari in London, this is his first appearance in Hastings.
Maureen Duffy is a fellow of King’s College, London and the Royal Society of Literature. She has published 19 novels, plays, and eight collections of poetry and non-fiction.
Her latest collection is Pictures From An Exhibition. A major part of her professional life has been devoted to the advancement of writers’ interests.
This event which starts at 7.30pm will be RSL interpreted and fully accessible. Tickets £8 (£6 conc) from Eventbrite or ONT.
