It’s back - bigger, bolder and more showbiz than ever.
Described in 2014 as “the musical event of the year,” Adam Hepkin’s ‘The Magic of the Musicals’ has enjoyed sell-out performances for the past two years and has become even more of a draw with performance by West End and Broadway great Ruthie Henshall.
The show is being staged at the De La Warr Pavilion on June 14 as part of the Bexhill Festival of Music.
Apart from Ruthie, who is an actress, singer and dancer who has become a musical theatre legend, there will be the chance to see some of the best the stage has to offer.
This includes; the runner-up of BBC TV talent contest ‘Any Dream Will Do’ and star of the National Tour of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, Keith Jack: the “reigning Queen of new musical theatre” and star of Avenue Q, Julie Atherton: West End Leading Lady, Zoë Doano (Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Grease): Jonathan Alden (Les Miserables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rock of Ages).
Also there will be Sussex’s favourite crooner, Tom Fitzpatrick and many more West End stars and professional dancers as well as a sixteen piece West End band.
Response to the call for local singers to join the community choir for the event has delighted producer Adam Hepkin.
He said: “The support that we have already seen for The Magic of the Musicals is overwhelming. At last count, there were upwards of 150 singers for the choir, so I have no doubt that the audience are in for a real musical treat.
“Expect Lloyd Webber, Sondheim, Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein and everything in between.
If you are a fan of musical theatre, this is one production that you do not want to miss.”
Tickets are selling quickly for this one night only event and can be booked by calling the De La Warr Pavilion box office on (01424) 229111 or by visiting www.dlwp.com
