Celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday

Festal choral evensong will take place at St Peter’s Church, Church Street, Old Town, Bexhill-on-Sea, on Sunday June 12 at 6pm to celebrate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The music is to include the Coronation Anthem Zadock the Priest.

Everybody is welcome.

After the service at the back of the church there will be the opportunity to have a celebratory drink.

On Saturday June 25 at 7pm St Peter’s Church choir will be performing again in a concert of sacred music for Petertide as part of its patronal festival.

The music will include compositions by several former Directors of Music in the church, including Kit Perona-Wright’s Thou Art Peter and a setting of Te Deum by Dr William Spear. This was influenced by his teacher Stanford and deserves to be heard after a century of neglect.

There will be solos for organ, oboe and cello, as well as a performance of one of the choral masterpieces of the 20th century; Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb.

Admission is free with a retiring collection in aid of the repair of the church roof and can be gift aided if you are a taxpayer.
