West End and Broadway legend, Ruthie Henshall will be headlining Adam Hepkin’s The Magic of the Musicals at the De La Warr Pavilion on June 14.
Ruthie Henshall’s multi-award winning career has seen her star in the most popular musicals of the past 30 years including Cats, Miss Saigon, Crazy For You, She Loves Me, Marguerite,Oliver!, A Chorus Line, Les Misérables and Chicago.
She has also enjoyed tremendous success in plays, in concert and on television. Ruthie is currently starring as Mrs Wilkinson in the London production of Billy Elliot.
She will be joined by runner-up of BBC’s Any Dream Will Do and star of the National Tour of Joseph, Keith Jack.
Other performers on the bill include Bexhill-born West End leading lady, Zoë Doano and Sussex’s favourite crooner, Tom Fitzpatrick.
The professional performers will be supported by a huge community choir, The Magic of the Musicals band and students from the East Sussex School of Performing Arts.
Producer and director Adam Hepkin, who enjoyed great success with productions at Bexhill High Academy, said: “The production has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and I am delighted that Ruthie will be joining us this year along with Keith and the other incredible performers.
It is a pleasure to be bringing the show to the De La Warr as part of the Bexhill Festival of Music.”
Adam Hepkin’s The Magic of the Musicals was hailed in 2014 as “the musical event of the year” and is a spectacular concert, featuring favourite songs from the shows - expect Lloyd Webber, Sondheim, Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein and everything in-between, culminating in a breathtaking Les Miserables finale.
