Avast me hearties! I see pirates on the horizon
But don’t worry shipmates, there’ll be no plundering and pillaging here. Our friend Roger Crouch has organised another exciting Pirate Day on July 21 and he wants you to help him.
Last year 14,231 folk dressed up in their best Jack Sparrow outfit to take to the Pelham Beach to break the world record.

Roger Crouch, organiser of Pirate Day, said: “My pride in Pirate Day comes in seeing so many age groups mixing together and all having a wonderful time, bringing in so many visitors and keeping the tradition of great Hastings events.
“Hastings will be swathed in skull and crossbones flags as pirate-related events stretch across town. Earlier this month people in Greenville town in North Carolina in the America attempted to take the pirate crown in an official Guinness attempt at the largest gathering of pirates at the Greenville Pirate Festival.
“They were unsuccessful but all credit to them for having a go and keeping the spirit of the record alive.
“I look forward to welcoming everyone to the beach for another great Pirate Day.”
