Sex Education and Barbie star to run Sussex marathon in aid of Bowel Cancer UK

A star of hit television ‘Sex Education’ and movie blockbuster ‘Barbie’ is set to run in a Sussex marathon in aid of Bowel Cancer UK.

Connor Swindells, of ‘Sex Education’ and ‘Barbie’ fame, is aiming to run Brighton Half Marathon in 2024 in aid of the charity in honour of his mother who passed away following a battle with the disease.

Connor said: “Finally, I have partnered with Bowel Cancer UK. I’m going to be running the Brighton Half Marathon in February 2024 and I want to raise as much money as I possibly can to fund vital research into bowel cancer.

"My mum lost her battle with bowel cancer about 20 years ago now so I’m obviously going to be running in honour of her ad for those that are currently struggling or who have struggled in the past.

So far, Connor has raised £8,518 for the charity from 585 donations.

Taking in a fast, flat race, the Half Marathon, a UK Athletics-certified race, features a stunning seafront course in one of the UK’s most vibrant cities. From Brighton Pier to The Royal Pavilion, Hove Beach Huts to the i360, the course takes in Brighton’s key landmarks.

From charity runners and beginners through to seasoned half marathoners, the race welcomes runners of all abilities. Thousands of spectators will come to the city to cheer on runners, creating an unbeatable atmosphere.
