Athletics: Breach in flying form at Lee Valley
Chichester Runners & AC member Jessica Breach competed at the South of England Indoor Championships at the Lee Valley Athletic Centre in North London.
The combined-eventer, who is also part of the Sport England Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme, is making the transition this year to the under-20 age group and plans to focus mainly on sprints and the long jump.
In the heats of the 60m, despite being distracted at the start, she still managed to record a new personal best time of 8.07sec – and went on to improve it again to 8.01 for fifth spot in the high-quality semi-final line-up.
The long jump saw her go comfortably through the qualifying pools with a leap of 5.17m. In the final, she jumped a very pleasing season’s opener of 5.22m to finish in fourth position.
